Surgery
in 2008
I had a
few surgeries in 2008 - it was a wild year for me! In June,
I had surgery on
my right CCL (Cranial Cruciate Ligament). I had no idea what
a CCL was, but I found out that it’s kind of like an ACL
injury in a human, except dogs don’t have the “A” part of
the structure of an ACL.
Then,
just 3 months later, I had to have surgery for the same
problem on my left leg!
Dr. Ian Holsworth at
Ventura Medical and Surgical Group
was my orthopedic surgeon and he said that it happens to
many dogs after recovering from a surgery like the first one
because my left leg was supporting all of my weight (and I
am BIG)! I was so bummed when I heard I would need another
surgery, but Dr. Ian said that after the second surgery I’ll be
all better for the rest of my life!
So many
people donated money for my surgeries! It was amazing! I
felt so loved to have so many people care about me. Thanks
to everyone who donated!
I hope some day I get to meet each of you and
give you some Archie love.
I had my second surgery on
Monday, September 10, 2008 and I was on the news! They
followed me into surgery and even came to see me when I went
back to Casa Pacifica after my surgery.
I was
in cast for a long time after my surgery. But, while I was
recovering,
everyone
was even NICER to me than usual! My kids brought me cards
and treats. They visited me all the time and rubbed my tummy
while they read to me. My kids had a bake sale to help raise
money for me! (They even saved me
some homemade dog bones!)
but
now I am better than ever!
Look out kids! Now I’ll
be able to catch you when we run and swim!
Thank you to everyone for your love and support! |
